Spent the day at the Museum of London yesterday at an event with a terrible title, Teen Workshop, but full of great ideas for working with young people in museums and galleries. Here’s just some suggestions.
An Arnolfini TakeOver Day when young people take on the roles of all staff across the organisation, from Director down to gallery stewards and Front of House. This is a national initiative that happens in November, so plenty of time to work towards it. That young people are made visible in marketing material and have a presence in the brochure. That every exhibition has an interpretation event delivered by young people for young people. That young people become visible across the organisation by attending staff meetings, stewards gallery briefings etc. Just a few things to think about.
