“And then we pulled the words apart” is an exhibition we will be putting together in Gallery 1 at the Arnolfini from the 2nd till the 5th of July. As part of it we are putting together an allotment/embassy and here is some of the research to give you a behind the scenes look into what we have planned.
Research on seeds that were used for the Ballast Seed Garden project in Bristol
Co-LAB is an independant arts shop in the centre of Bristol and recently, I’ve been working closely with them.
We want to explore what we share and how we come together as a group, be that by studying language, going on journeys, telling stories or learning new skills. The gallery space will become a school, an allotment or even a country as we test out the boundaries of our ideas and interests.
Time for a little self-promotion and to share with you my recent cutting project from January.
For everyday of January, I made a collage.
A few weeks ago, artist Laura Reeves came to see us.
She ran a workshop both with our group and a lovely handful of other young people.
What does it mean to be a modern man?
Does being a man mean working 9-5 and bringing home the cash for your wife and kids? Does it mean hitting the gym until your body is chiselled? How about growing and grooming that beard until it looks like you’ve put zero effort into making it perfect? Or perhaps it means being a Meninist?
