Laura Reeves Workshop

Arnolfini, Art, Artist, Bristol, Reflection

A few weeks ago, artist Laura Reeves came to see us.

She ran a workshop both with our group and a lovely handful of other young people.

After hearing about Laura’s work, she set us the task to, using the alphabet, write a big list of things we liked.

Here’s mine:

A

Blue skies, Billboards

Coronation Street, Collage, Café Culture (I don’t like tea or coffee)

Ducks, Driving (Freedom)

Eric Carle

Food

Glue (more in current work)

Home, Hot Chocolate

Ink (printing papers)

Jars

Kit Kats (Mum)

L

Mail

Newport

Order

P

Quitting

Roads (long ones), Rust

Scissors, Saving (documents), Sunshine

Throwing out (bedroom)

U

Vegetables

Weather, Whack It

X

Yes (saying)

Zoo (DQ)

Have a go, it’s harder than you think!

We were then asked to use some/all/one of our words we’d come up with, and create a text of some sort.

I wrote about how I’d like to be Eric Carle, and to own draws full of neatly organised paper.

Our next workshop is going to be from Lauren Godfrey on 25 March – It’s free for you to come along if you’re aged between 16 and 25. Take a look:
